Before and After Relining

Signs that You Need Drain Repair

Your home’s plumbing system contains a number of drains, all of which feed into your sewer line, which carries wastewater away from your home to your municipal sewer system.

You can experience problems with your drains at any point along your plumbing system, whether it’s a clog in your shower or a collapsed sewer line.

Over time, your drains can become damaged, leading to leaks, clogs, and other problems. This is especially true with buried drains, which can be vulnerable to shifting soil and other problems.

Here are some of the signs that your drains may need to be repaired:

  • Unpleasant smells, either from your drains or in your yard
  • Drains are running slowly
  • Sewage is backing up into your drains
  • Patches of your lawn are suddenly green and lush
  • Gurgling or Bubbling from toilets

When you notice any of these signs, don’t hesitate to contact Steve’s Plumbing. We’ll send a technician right away to help get your sewer repair started.

How Does CIPP Lining Work?

Repairing drains inside your home is usually relatively easy. However, fixing underground drains can be extremely difficult—and expensive. But thanks to advances in modern technology, it’s no longer necessary to dig a trench in your lawn to handle every sewer repair. With drain cameras and cured-in-place pipe lining, fixing your sewer line is easier than ever.

Using our drain cameras, our technicians can examine your sewer line from the inside. This inside look gives your plumber the chance to assess the problem, whether it’s from blockage due to scale build-up and tree roots or damage from a partially collapsed pipe. Once your plumbing technician has this information, they can put together a plan for installing your CIPP lining.

The first step in the lining process is to do a thorough cleaning of your sewer line. Using water jets and other specialized equipment, your technician will clear away any foreign material, including scale build-up and other debris, leaving your pipes clean and providing an ideal surface to adhere to your new pipe lining.

Next, your plumber will insert an epoxy-soaked pipe liner into your sewer line, with a deflated air bladder running through it. Once the liner is in place, the air bladder can be inflated, which presses the liner against the sides of your existing pipe. The liner is left to cure for about 24 hours, during which time it hardens and adheres to the original pipeline.

Once the pipe liner has cured, the air bladder is deflated and removed, leaving the hardened liner pressed against the walls of the pipe. We then send our drain camera back into your sewer line, inspecting the results and ensuring that the drain repair process is complete.

Benefits of CIPP Lining

If you’re in need of drain repair, there are a number of reasons why a CIPP lining is a better option than traditional repiping, which include:

  • There’s little to no digging, which means you won’t disturb landscaping
  • CIPP lining installation is much faster than replacing pipes
  • With CIPP, you’ll save money in comparison to a pipe replacement
  • Your new lining significantly increases the lifespan of your pipes
  • CIPP lining won’t cause long interruptions to your home’s plumbing system

More than anything, CIPP lining is about convenience. While not every problem with your sewer drain can be repaired with cured-in-place pipe lining, it can keep you from spending unnecessary time and money on disruptive, unpleasant digging.
